evening

Chamomile

Relaxation & better sleep

10 min brew30–60 minutes before bed

What it does

A gentle evening ritual that supports restful sleep and hormonal balance.

What the research says

Apigenin, chamomile's primary active compound, binds to GABA-A receptors in the brain — the same receptors targeted by anti-anxiety medications, but much more mildly. A randomized trial found significantly better sleep quality in adults who drank chamomile extract. Better sleep is directly linked to reduced bloating and better energy.

How to brew

Ingredients

  • ·2 tbsp dried chamomile flowers (or 2 bags)
  • ·300ml water

Steps

  1. 1

Bring water to 90°C (just before boiling).

  2. 2

Pour over chamomile flowers in a covered infuser or teapot.

  3. 3

Steep for 8–10 minutes. Longer steeping increases the sedative effect.

  4. 4

    Strain and enjoy slowly.

  5. 5

Make this part of your wind-down routine — not at your desk.

Best time to drink

30–60 minutes before bed. Best as part of a consistent evening routine.
